Sister Helen Prejean, author of “Deadman Walking,” is the keynote speaker for Cities for Life this year on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jacksonville, beginning at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the diocese’s Prison Ministry, the annual gathering addresses why the death penalty should be abolished in Florida and worldwide. Also speaking is Dr. Joseph Thornton, a psychiatrist who has worked with death row inmates since the 1990s, and Herman Lindsey, wrongfully convicted of a robbery and murder. He was the 23rd person from Florida’s Deth Row to be exonerated. Cities for Life will also be livestreamed on www.Youtube.com/DOSACatholics.
